5/17/07 Linda, I, Meghan the Irish
Terrier, and our 28E33TS Titanium 5th wheel headed for the 2007 Titanium
Rally at Chula Vista RV Resort. We had lunch at a seafood restaurant
right next to the RV Park before checking in. Arrived about 2:00 p.m.
and were checked in by Wagon Master Don Frye. The park was very
clean, full hook ups, a pool, Jacuzzi, picnic area, and located right on
a city park on San Diego Bay. We immediately started visiting with
some of the 25 couples who attended. At 6:00 p.m. we all took our
appetizers, wine, beer, etc. over to the picnic area and had a nice get acquainted
party. The appetizers were excellent. Linda made deviled eggs which
disappeared quickly. The weather for the rally was dismal cool May gray
marine overcast for almost the entire 4 days.
5/18/07 I got up early at 7:00 a.m. and took Meghan for a 2 mile off leash romp
along and on the beach. At 9:00 a.m. we headed out by chartered bus to
a Puerto Nuevo Lobster lunch in Mexico. It took about 1-1/4 hour for
our two buses to drive down the coast of Mexico to Puerto Nuevo. We
arrived too early for lunch so we walked around the small town checking
out all of the shops. About 11:00 a.m. we got seated in Ortego’s
restaurant which had a nice view of the Pacific Ocean. The lobster lunch was good but not as good as I remember it in
my younger days. I brought my own wine so I was feeling no pain when
lunch was over. The bus returned to the RV Park taking about 1.5
hours. The rest of the group went out for dinner again at 6:00
p.m. Linda and I skipped it as two big meals in one day is too
much for us. We watched TV and retired to bed early.
5/19/07 Got up again at 7:00 a.m. for Meghan’s
morning walk, so dear to her heart. At 8:30 a.m. most of the group
headed to the Trolley Station for a trip to downtown San Diego to see
the USS Midway Air Craft Carrier Museum. This was an excellent
experience, which I have been wanting to do for years. The very fine
docents, who were mostly ex navy pilots, officers, and enlisted people
who served at one time on this giant ship, did the many talks on the bridge and at the planes on the
flight deck. Returned to RV about 1:30
p.m. and prepared a barbecued tri-tip roast for the evening potluck.
The potluck began at 6:00 p.m. and the food was really outstanding.
Linda and I had a great time talking with everyone at our table.
5/20/07 Got up late, about 8:00 a.m. and took
Meghan to the beach. Found another dog owner with a standard poodle and
a Husky who wanted canine company to play with her dogs. Meghan got 40
minutes of running in the sand and a 3 mile hike this cloudy morning. I
then returned to the trailer for a bagel breakfast. Next I headed for
the Jacuzzi to relax and sooth my sore muscles. I attended the group
tech session talk at noon which was quite good.
At 4:00 p.m. Norms RV hosted a nice picnic for the entire group which
lasted about 2.5 hours. As usual each night door prizes were presented by
Don Frye.
5/21/07 Got up about 7:30 a.m., walked Meghan on
the beach along the bay for about 1.5 miles. Had a quick breakfast.
The Winfield Industries man Scott showed up with a 5th wheel front jack
stabilizer for $120, so I purchased it and helped with the installation.
Said our good byes to all and drove home. I want to especially thank Don Frye for
running and organizing this event. It was my first rally but
hopefully not my last. Good luck to the new organizing team and
hope to see you all next year.
