Roger, Linda, Mike, and Charlene's trip to the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum Nov 7, 2009

This is the view from the Midway Aircraft Carrier main deck. As you can see it was a beautiful day. That sailor kissing his girl friend on the right, is one of the most popular statues in San Diego. This is a hand held HDR processed photo which I am relatively happy with.

Charlene still fresh on main deck.
The planes appear to be in flying condition.
Mike and Char inside a Huey Helicopter.
Mike touring the sleeping area.
A bit tight but not too bad.
Kid groups are allowed to come on board and sleep over night on this ship. I know because I have volunteered several times to give them an astronomy presentation with my telescope on the main deck.
A view out the channel to the ocean. Lots of sail boats out on this lovely day.
One of the volunteer pilots who talked about the duties of everyone to get a plane off on the catupult.
The sun ocassionally left the clouds.
When these engines are running this close would be a no no.

I used to sail a boat like this in the late afternoon after work.
Charlene checking out the showers.
We are in the brig induction area now.
Char and Mike testing the cells out and not too happy about it.
The boiler room was really interesting to Mke and myself. We asked the docent operator a lot of questions.
Look how shiny they keep these valve wheels. It takes a lot of maintenance to keep this ship looking good.
The complexity and size of the equipment fascinated me.
When we broke for lunch these two surfers paddled by. Only in California!! The food on the ship was not horrible.
Apparently the F14 is still used.

This hot dog volunteer pilot had a real attitude, but was very entertaining in a TOP GUN like manner.
This the Royal Carribean Cruise Lines ship RADIANCE OF THE SEAS. We sailed on this ship last year in Alaska with Conrad and Kathy. Apparently it is in the south for the winter.
Linda and I posing next to the RADIANCE OF THE SEAS.
This helicopter picked up several space craft mission returns.
These are the mission astronauts they pulled out.
An attack helicopter that was used in Vietnam river combat area.
