A nice view of the river. |

A nice view point on this hike. Photo taken by Ed. |

The group was small going up to Deer Creek. The hike up had some steep climbing and a bit of frightening exposure. |

Eons of time and water carved out this canyon. |

It was so peaceful up here. Not many people. |

Camp sites were hard to come by this night so used a ledge. |
 |
Got some rain this night and a rainbow. The sprinkles stopped and no tent was required. |

The following few shots are all hdr processed photos. |

Rocks to be avoided just before we arrived at Havasu Creek. |
 |
This is a pool area up Havasu Creek; the main high light for me on this trip. |
 |
The water color is caused by travertine and salt mineral content from up stream. |

Jose and the girls having a great time in the water. |

Jean is riled up about something? |

A hole for the trail upsteam. This creek goes all the way up to the Havasupai Indian reservation which is another site I want to visit some day. |

The place was a bit crowded for the Grand Canyon, but still fun and soothing to the soul. |

Walking back out to the boat now. We entered up stream perhaps 1.5 miles. |
 |
It was a lush green place here. |

That is our boat in the far background. It was tricky business getting on and off the boat in the rough water. The opening upstream into Havasu Creek was not large enough for the pontoon boats so we had to anchor here and walk an extra half mile on shelf rock into the canyon. |

A Big horn desert sheep. My short lens did not bring him in very close. |

A painful ant bite on Jean's foot. |
 |
Jean got stung by an ant during lunch. She was in real pain for a few hours. For some reason the ants crawled right over me while I was napping after lunch but did not want to bite me. Fortunately the ants go to sleep at night so there is not a problem while sleeping. |
