Photos by Roger & Jose of our rafting trip through the Grand Canyon Sept 16 & 17, 2009

Jose and I decided to hike the 1 mile one way trail into the Ranch for a cold drink and some souvenir t-shirts. |
 |
My friend Jose Magsaysay from San Diego. He is into astronomy and photography. That is a Canon 5D full frame DSLR with a Canon 40-70 lens he is carrying. |

The pack mules returning to the stables after a load down to the ranch. |
 |
Could make some great jelly with these fruits. |
 |
Mules have the right away down here. |
 |
The famous architect Mary Coulter designed these beautiful cabins at the Ranch. |

Ed had a black light flash light that could spot scorpions in the dark. This guy was only 5' from my sleeping pad. Jose took the picture while I was sleeping. It comes out with blue color, but I processed it to look more realistic. |

Hdr processed photo. |

I love the colors in this hdr photo. |

Our day 6 campsite at mile marker 123. It was a real climb to get up that sand dune on the left to access our sleeping sites. We had a problem this day finding an open campsite and this was Ed's 3rd option I believe. |
 |
We hiked up this stream to a beautiful little waterfall. The side canyons and streams are the real beauty of the Grand Canyon. |
 |
It was mossy and slippery in here. With an expensive camera in hand, real caution was required. |

The water falls at the end of this canyon. |

I broke out my Keen water shoes for this hike. |

Jose and Esther enjoying the cool beautiful scenery. |

We headed down stream to a series of big rapids. |

Quartz veins running through the 1.7 billion year old Vishnu Schist rock. |

Travertine hill. |

We are hiking to another water fall area called Vasey's Paradise. Ed had his hands full leading us up this almost technical climbing in the beginning. |
 |
This shows the difficulty in reaching Vasey's Paradise. This trail would be a problem for anyone who has acrophobia. |
 |
The hike was well worth the effort. |
