Photos by Roger & Jose of our rafting trip through the Grand Canyon Sept 12,13, & 14, 2009

On our way down river day 1.
My first camp site at mile 21.5 Wash. The tent and sleeping bag were provided our outfitter Arizona Rafting Adventures - AZRA.
Jose took this photo of the beautiful constellation Orion with Bill sleeping in the foreground in the wee hours of the morning on day 2
This Milky Way photo by Jose. The sky was breath taking with no evidence of any light pollution.
We stopped at Redwall Cavern for a rest.
Powell thought it would hold 50,000 people but I think that was a strech.
It was nice and cool in here.
It sure does look big from this view.
My first "high dynamic range" hdr photo taken in camp at the end of day 2.

The butte formations are so beautiful in the canyon.

Esther & Jean ready to hike. They were the best conditioned individuals in our group.
Getting ready for a 2.5 mile short hike with about 450' elevation on day 3.
What a pretty back drop for our lounging area.
This day 3 hike got me fatigued as it was late in the day hot with lots of elevation. You need to be in relatively good shape to do these hikes. I hit the sleeping pad imediately after dinner without putting up a tent. The weather was so mild, so after day 2, I never put up the tent again and enjoyed the stars.
