Photos by Roger of the area around Coloma, California May, 2009

I was one of the first RV campers of the season at Camp Lotus and the Canadian geese were still in camp.
The goslings were soo cute.
The area was still green from the spring rains.
We stopped at this local winery tasting all of the wine they produced and I actually purchased 6 bottles. The growing season up here at this 3,000' elevation is shorter than Napa hence higher prices according to the vintner.
They don't look related but where very friendly with each other.
We visited the old Sutters Mill location.
A replica of the old lumber mill.

Perhaps they stored gold in this building?

This is South Fork of the American River where Kathy and I rafted the day before. It is much wilder upstream.
These stamp mill machines were used to help extract the gold.
