Photos BO3

Photos by Roger or Marvin of my trip to Boston MA November 2008 to play in Fall Nationals bridge tournament.

On the 9th day I went to the Prudential building 50th floor to tour the Sky Walk. That is Fenway Park Stadium to the right.
Another shot of the Christian Science Church.

MIT campus.
A thunder storm moved in while we were on the 50th floor sky walk.
We went to lunch at this very small quaint little Italian Cafe twice. Marvin really loved it. The food and the wine was excellent.
It was a family owned restaurant with only perhaps 10 tables.
Next we started walking to the Gibson House Museum in the Back Bay area.
These apartment type buildings are in excellent condition and are large inside with very high perhaps 14' ceilings.
Marvin was getting tired and cranky but made it OK.
We are returning from the Gibson House Museum now. No photos were allowed. It was a completely restored house of the early 1800's and lived in up to 1950 by the family.
The old buildings built on a land filled original marsh. The compaction methods must have been excellent as there seems to be no subsidence.

The church of the bean blowers (Boston beans!) according to

Alice Leight.

A closer look at the bugle blowers on this steeple.
On the way back I spotted the library and talked the French's into visiting it.
The entrance into this beautiful building recently restored.
The sculptures and painting in this library were unbelievable.
This is the main area for study. This is the most impressive library I have ever been in. Look at height of these cathedral ceilings.
We came across this tour guide as we were walking the library, so we joined in as he was one of the most entertaining and knowledgeable tour guides I had ever met. Best was we didn't have to pay.
The library was filled with Murals including recently restored paintings by John Singer Sargent on the theme of "Judaism and Christianity". Sergent didn't finish all of the original murals, because there was to much criticism over the religious content of his proposed work.
This picture does not portray how beautiful this work was. We were all delighted that we took the time to tour this library.
I celebrated the last night by eating this 1.5 # lobster at the best seafood restaurant in the world for the price charged. I ate at Legal Sea Foods at least 6 times during my stay in Boston.
