Photos BO2

Photos by Roger or Marvin of my trip to Boston MA November 2008 to play in Fall Nationals bridge tournament.

On the 5th day I had no bridge dates so I decided to walk 6 long blocks in the cold to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. On the way I passed this beautiful Christian Science Church world head quarters building. Note the ice in reflection pond. The Christian Science Monitor is published from here.
The museum is under going renovation and expansion.

I headed for the American oil paintings area first. These photos were taken using my Sony point and shoot camera with no flash so the quality is marginal. This was one of my favorite paintings "The Fog Warning" by Lewis Holmer. The fisherman sees the fog coming and is debating weather to dump his fish, so he can make it back to the mother ship shown in the background, before he is engulfed and lost for ever.
Portrait by John Singer Sargent the best portrait painter in the states at the time.
"Watson and the Shark by John Singleton Copley

Paul Revere also by Copley
John Hancock by Copley.
Samuel Adams by Copley.
The hallways of the museum were beautiful and had Antigua chairs and benches which could be used for their original purpose.

An original marble statue of Caesar Augustus found on the Greek Island of Paros.
