Prairie Dog City. Meggie went crazy chasing these creatures which were uncatchable as they could duck into their holes very quickly.
Prong Horn Antelope were prolific in the park.
Three asses.
The old Black Hills gold minors apparently let some donkeys into the wild.
It was a beautifully green summer with plenty of grass for the 1,400 buffalo in the park.
The buffalo herds sometimes caused traffic jams in the park as they can roam anywhere they want.
The rut was in full swing and this guy was a little testy.
The motor cycle rally in Sturgis was just starting when we got there. We had buffalo burgers with the bikers at this general store in the park. The bikers were actually quite friendly and well mannered.
A pair of Big Horn Sheep seen at close range.
The needles in the northern part of the park. We had to go on a windy road through several tunnels to get here.
The very picturesque Sylvan Lake
A nice spire in the Needles area.
