View looking east where Cochise held off the US Calvary for 3 years.
The camp ground was located at an elevation of 4,600'. It was nicely laid out with large sites, electricity, and water. The rates were $24/ night. The birding was great and there was a nice trail into the mountains.
The sunset on the last night was impressive. That's my scope in the foreground. It became totally clouded over within an hour after sunset. What a bummer.
We were able to back our vehicle right into the viewing area. The biggest scope there was a 36" Dobsonian from Sacramento. It was really impressive for viewing the galaxies.
Jimmy Stewart a TV weather man from Tucson and a beginning amateur astronomer gave us all an excellent lecture on the weather.
