12/10/2011 at 6:15am taken from Cowles Mountain in San Diego California. I got up at 3:45am to drive to the site and then had to walk approximately 1.25 miles up the steep trail with my equipment in a back pack, quite a task for a 68 year over weight guy with MS. The eclipse was very beautiful in person and was worth the effort I had put into it. Unfortunately, shortly after the total eclipse the moon slipped into the ocean marine layer. I used two raw exposures with my Canon 7d and Canon 200mm f4 zoom lens to make this photo. I processed using Photoshop using some Tony Kuyper layer luminance selective masking and image adjustments to get the scene into range.

| 2/20/2008 Because of rain and overcast
in San Diego, I and Jose Magsaysay drove 80 miles east to
Imperial California for the eclipse. The conditions
were in the 60's, very severe blowing dust, seeing was about
3/6. I used my Canon 40d with a Canon 70-200mm, F4 lens
with 1.4 teleconvertor on a Bogan tripod. The total focal
length was 200x1.4x1.6 = 448. My TV85 or C8 would
have been a better choice but the conditions were to extreme to
break out my astro imaging equipment. At 8:00 pm the moon
got clouded over and we packed up for the night. I used
Images Plus 3.0 and Photoshop CS3 to compose this collage. | |
| 10/27/2007 A short break in the cloudy rainy weather allowed me to get this quick shot in my home driveway at San Diego, CA.
